{"id":641,"date":"2020-04-22T17:56:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T17:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/naturalstone.af\/?p=641"},"modified":"2021-02-01T15:09:09","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T15:09:09","slug":"afghanistans-ministry-of-mines-and-petroleum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naturalstone.af\/de\/afghanistans-ministry-of-mines-and-petroleum\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistans Ministerium f\u00fcr Bergbau und Erd\u00f6l"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"641\" class=\"elementor elementor-641\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-47bfecf8 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"47bfecf8\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3abeecfe\" data-id=\"3abeecfe\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-64e2e7c8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"64e2e7c8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p><strong>Kabul, Afghanistan<\/strong> \u2013 On April 21, 2020, Afghanistan-owned and operated Natural Stone Company signed two concession agreements with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) for the exploration of Kunar-Nangarhar marble and Lolanj-Parwan travertine. \u00a0President Ashraf Ghani joined the company and the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum by video where he delivered remarks for this notable event.\u00a0 Not only are these the first mining concessions issued under the 2018 Minerals Law, it is also the first time that exploration rights have ever been awarded for these types of commodities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Natural Stone Company will invest an estimated $5 million in both projects for exploration, extraction, processing and marketing.\u00a0 For the past year, Natural Stone Company has worked with USAID, through its INVEST mechanism, on marketing and sales of existing supplies and promoting the new stones that these awards will provide.<\/p>\n<p>Natural Stone Company\u2019s President and Founder Mr. Asif Stanekzai said \u201cAs a result of USAID INVEST\u2019s support, my company has been able to participate in multiple international trade and business development events where I\u2019ve had the opportunity to engage in business development and learn about requirements to compete in international markets, including quality, tariffs, customs systems, and transportation and shipping. This is extremely important as I prepare to produce quality material from these projects, and export to the international market.\u201d Both projects have significant deposits of pure white stone that is in demand in the global market.\u00a0 Now with these awards, Natural Stone Company plans to expedite exploration of both projects with the hopes of completing exploration by the end of 2020 and beginning extraction by the beginning of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward, Mr. Stanekzai said \u201cI am grateful to INVEST for providing technical support and guidance to help me purchase a specialized core drilling rig from Italy to assist me in moving into the next phase of exploration.\u201d\u00a0 Once the blocks have been extracted, they will be taken to Natural Stone Company\u2019s processing facility in Kabul for cutting, polishing, and packing.
